Eddy Covariance (and Monin-Obukhov similarity) is a processing technique allowing to distill useful wind and turbulence information from high-speed high-resolution three dimensional ultrasonic anemometer data collected in the Surface Layer.

The SODAR (acronym of SOund Detection And Ranging) is a remote sensing instrument allowing to probe wind velocity components along a vertical line. The RASS extension allows measuring the vertical profile of temperature.

LIDAR technology is now able to sense wind vector on a vertical column on a fine spatial mesh and high sampling rate. The WindRanger / WindScout compact units, with a maximum range of 200m, are a low-cost replacement of cumbersome wind towers.

Disdrometric radar perform a function similar to conventional disdrometers, that is counting hydrometeor size and speed distribution, but on a measurement direction, usually the vertical. They are useful per-se, but also to calibrate weather radars.

Software

Calpuff if a widely diffused and used Lagrangian puff dispersion model. To make its use more sensible in Europe, Servizi Territorio srl has developed ConcDecode, a computer code allowing to read concentration and deposition files, and perform on them the kind of statistics used in European countries. Results are typically provided as (X,Y,Conc) files, which can then be easily rendered as maps using GIS software.

Servizi Territorio srl, also authors and delivers software, allowing our customers to make good use of the advanced data collected using "our" sensors in technical applications. Of course that's only part of the story: we also offer consultancy services enabling our clients to integrate these data in their production or safety processes - for this, I invite you to contact us directly at e-mail address info@serviziterritorio.it.

Calmet is the meteorological interpolator / processor of the Calpuff suite. Its main use is to downscale meteorological data produced by WRF and similar models; another common use is to extend to.a spatial grid point-wise and profile measurements (possibly coming from ultrasonic anemometers and SODAR(/RASS and pre-processed by ST-Me). Evaluating the quality and visualizing of its output may be tricky, and to this purpose Servizi Territorio srl has developed MetDecode, a computer code allowing to extract met data, compute various quality statistics on them, and converting to a form allowing easy visualization by Grads and similar viewers.

Really a service, more than a tangible product. But the reasons Servizi Territorio's clients buy our stations and sensors are very many, and impossible to anticipate. Special purpose processing is often necessary, and we can provide it as a service. Our personnel (me included) has extensive development experience in various programming languages and environments, and we can then taylor customer systems on user needs or specifications.

Still another service, but strongly relating to our sensors and software, is formation. We at Servizi Territorio srl provide technical training on all the objects we sell, delivered directly at the clients' premises. We also provide courses on more general subjects, like datalogger programming or ultrasonic anemometer, SODAR(/RASS), LIDAR and radar data processing.

Services

The expertise of Servizi Territorio srl extends to the design of custom stations, and networks. We typically begin with an extensive interview, in which we clarify together with the client the actual measurement needs allocated to the station/network. Then, we select the sensors, data acquisition systems and transmission facilities best suited for the application, with attention not limited to objects in our catalog. We also design structural and electrical elements, and on request can also build and start them.

In addition to meteorological stations, Servizi Territorio srl can design and deliver special-purpose embedded measurement systems. In case, we analyse together with users the actual needs, design a prototype, and (if needed) assist in the pre-series and series production.

Of course, we do. Servizi Territorio srl was born with dispersion modeling around 1994, after the experience of its original founders at CESI SpA, from 1980 on. To date this is not our core business any more (we prefer assisting modelers and plant owners with data processing tools and measurement systems). But we're still able to, and continue participating to research and development initiatives. That's a good way, for us, to hold a grasp on real World necessities - and provide a more sensible help.
